    What Is Strawberry Skin?

    What Is Strawberry Skin?
Strawberry skin - or keratosis pilaris (KP) - is a common skin condition that presents as rough red, pink or flesh coloured bumps, most regularly seen on the backs of the arms, legs, buttocks or cheeks.

KP is a genetic condition caused by a build up of hair protein within the pores, but triggers such as cold weather or hormonal changes can cause a flare up.

Whilst there is no known cure for KP, gentle exfoliation and hydration can improve the appearance of the skin. Look for ingredients such as AHAs, salicylic acid and retinol to exfoliate, and ceramides, shea butter, glycerin and hyaluronic acid to hydrate.

Avoiding tight clothes can also help reduce irritation, as can using a humidifier during the colder months to keep the skin’s moisture levels up.

Our JOY Prescription: A smoothing serum can work wonders on buffing away bumps on arms and legs.

Additionally, ensuring adequate moisturization is key: our multi award-winning SUNDAY SOFA Rejuvenating Body Butter is engineered with rambutan leaf extract (a natural retinol alternative), hyaluronic acid and adaptogen Siberian ginseng, and clinically proven to moisturize for up to 48 hours.
