Phospholipids are a type of lipid made up of glycerol, fatty acids, and phosphate.
Within skincare, phospholipids are excellent humectants (attracting and retaining moisture), and have antioxidant benefits. They are also adept at penetrating the skin more deeply to deliver other active ingredients. Lecithin is a common example of a phospholipid used within skincare.
